Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a lock up pattern which agrees with the driving operation of a driver by storing engine load and/or car velocity data, and moving and correcting lock up control condition according to the data. CONSTITUTION:An electronic control device 30 is adapted to execute and release lock up of a torque converter through a solenoid 17 according to the lock up control conditions previously set on ROM or the like with a car velocity and engine load as a parameter. In this case, engine load data obtained from a signal from a throttle sensor 4 and/or car velocity data obtained by a car velocity sensor 21 are taken in and stored in RAM 33. When the data is shifted to high load side and/or high car velocity side, CPU 31 is adapted to correct lock up control condition to high car velocity side and correct lock up control condition to low car velocity side in the reverse case. Thus, lock up pattern of the torque converter which agrees with driving operation of a driver for a vehicle can be obtained to improve running feeling.
