Summary:PURPOSE:To block excessive wear of a sliding face by arranging a glass whose wear resistance is equal to that of a core as a magnetic gap protection guard and adhering a substance whose wear resistance is remarkably larger than those of the core and glass to a recording medium sliding part of the glass. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic gap 21 receiving/giving a leakage magnetic flux is formed between upper corners 18, 19 of core halves 10, 11 while clipping a nonmagnetic thin layer. The upper end of the core halves including the upper corners 18, 19 is formed as a thin film whose track width Tw is nearly 20mum, low melting point glasses 22, 22 are imbedded to both faces in the track width direction to protect the core thin upper end including the magnetic gap 21. Then thin strips 24, 25 are formed to both shoulders of a magnetic tape slide contact curved face 26 exposed with low melting point glasses 22, 22 and a magnetic gap of a 'Sendust(R)' head as sputtering by using a material Al2O3 whose hardness is remarkably larger than that of a 'Sendust(R)' alloy or a low melting point glass and whose wear resistance to a metal tape is sufficiently large. Thus, the excessive wear of the sliding face due to the recording medium is blocked.
