Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain the titled antistatic fibers having improved mechanical characteristic and alkali resistance, by blending a polyester in which a polyoxyalkylene glycol having one blocked end is copolymerized with the main chain ends with a specific component and melt spinning the resultant blend. CONSTITUTION:A polyoxyalkylene glycol, expressed by the formula R O(R O)nH (R is hydrocarbon; R is alkylene; n is a positive integer indicating the polymerization degree) and having one blocked end is copolymerized with partial ends of a polyester. Thereby the aimed modified polyester fibers, having 0.01-4mol%, based on the bifunctional carboxylic acid component constituting the polyester, blocked ends and containing 0.01-2.0wt% sulfonic acid quaternary onium salt unreactive with the polyester are obtained.
