Summary:PURPOSE:To enhance productivity, to lower the cost of equipment, such as storage facilities, etc., and to extremely reduce trouble on the physical properties of products by regulating the phosphoric acid content in gelatin as a hydrophilic colloid to a specified value or less. CONSTITUTION:The phosphoric acid content in the gelatin as the hydrophilic colloid is regulated certainly to <=200ppm, preferably, to <=100ppm. When a mixture of various kinds of gelatin solutions are used, the content of the phosphoric acid is expressed by a weight average value. There are many kinds of minute amounts of components and some of them affect propagation of microorganisms, and it is necessary to pay sufficient attention to growth promoting components. This invention tries to obtain a prevention effect of putrefaction of the hydrophilic colloid without using an antiseptic, so fat as it is possible, but good disinfectants may be used in consideration of influences on photographic performances and on ecological systems.
