Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a high quality static image by changing the scanning sequence of an image pickup device when the static image is recorded, and performing equalization characterized by good S/N and less blur. CONSTITUTION:In the case a moving image is displayed, a switch 9 is connected to a contact b. When a record start signal is applied to an imput terminal 10, the switch 9 is connected to a contact a by said signal. Therefore, a clock from a clock generator 1 is fed to a frequency divider 8 via a switch 9, and divided into, e.g., 1/N. Ultrasonic waves are sent and received N consecutive times by the same oscillating element in an oscillating element array 3, and control is performed so that the same scanning position in a CRT6 is scanned N consecutive times by a DA converter 5.
