Summary:PURPOSE:To exclude influences of amplitude characteristics of a transmission line to be measured and a receiving circuit to improve the measurement precision by extracting an envelope signal corresponding to amplitude modulation from a test wave received by a measuring device and delaying the envelope signal by a prescribed time to generate a delay envelope signal and comparing the level of the delay envelope signal with that of the envelope signal. CONSTITUTION:Similarly to a synchronizing circuit 4A of a transmitting part 20, a synchronizing circuit 4B of a measuring part 30 outputs a stabilized synchronizing system and a signal indicating the multiplex position of a test signal to a discrimination signal receiving circuit 7 and an envelope delay/amplitude characteristic measuring circuit 9 on a basis of a TV video signal. This circuit 9 receives the next coming test signal for sag compensation in response to the discrimination signal transmitted from the discrimination signal receiving circuit 7. Thus, the sag compensation of the test signal for measurement of the envelope delay characteristic and the amplitude characteristic is performed.
