CATALYST FOR STEAM REFORMING OF METHANOL

PURPOSE:To impart high activity and high strength at 250 deg.C or less, by molding a catalyst for the steam reforming of methanol from CuO, Al2O3 and ZnO or/and Cr2O3. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of a nitrate mixture consisting of 50-90mol% of CuO, 5-50mol% Al2O3 and 5-50mol% of ZnO or/and 5-50...

Summary:PURPOSE:To impart high activity and high strength at 250 deg.C or less, by molding a catalyst for the steam reforming of methanol from CuO, Al2O3 and ZnO or/and Cr2O3. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of a nitrate mixture consisting of 50-90mol% of CuO, 5-50mol% Al2O3 and 5-50mol% of ZnO or/and 5-50mol% of Cr2O3 and a coprecipitation agent such as Na2CO3 or NaOH are stirred at 30-80 deg.C and the coprecipitated sedimented substance is dried at 150 deg.C or less, and ground and molded to obtain a methanol steam reforming catalyst. Because this catalyst shows high activity even in low temp. reaction (250 deg.C or less), it can be adapted to the utilization to the H2 generator of a fuel battery and an apparatus or process requiring no high temp. H2 such as a reducing H2 generation source at the time of the manufacturing of a semiconductor.
