Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a rough shaped steel billet excellent in accuracy, in high efficiency and high yield,by wedge-rolling a rolling stock by means of horizontal rolls, while restricting its central part or centering it in the barrel-length direction of the horizontal roll by means of vertical rolls. CONSTITUTION:The axes (a), (a) of horizontal rolls 1 and the axes (b), (b) of vertical rolls 2 to be disposed between the rolls 1, 1, are positioned in approximately the same plane, and the positions of rolls 2 are enabled to shift to optional positions in the barrel-length direction of roll 1. A slab 10 of thickness (t0) and width (H0) is wedge-rolled into a billet of web-height H1 and flange-width B1 by means of wedge box-calibers K1, K2, and is successively wedge-rolled into a rough shaped billet of web-height H2 and flange-width B2 by means of flat box-calibers K3, K4. At that time, the slab 10 is rolled while restricting or centering its central part by means of the rolls 2. In this way, the material is prevented from causing buckling, falling, or the deviation from center, and a highly accurate product is efficiently obtained.
