Summary: | PURPOSE:To improve firing performance of an ignition plug in no relation to its stain by carbon, by directly detecting abnormality in an electric discharge route due to a stain of the ignition plug by carbon and supplying again a high voltage pulse to the ignition plug when the abnormality is discriminated. CONSTITUTION:A high voltage pulse Pi, generated in the secondary side of an ignition coil 23 in a high voltage pulse generating means 21, is both distributively supplied to an ignition plug 25 through a distributor 24 and input to a discriminating means 34 through an attenuator 35. While the discriminating means 34 inputs a probe output St from a probe 29, additionally provided in one of the ignition plugs 25 and for detecting an electric discharge route, and an ignition timing signal Si. And this discriminating means 34, comparing a number of generating times of high voltage pulses with a number of times of electric discharges generated in a route between discharge electrodes of the ignition plug 25 as the electric discharge route, outputs a redischarge signal when the number of times of the electric discharges is smaller than the number of generating times of the high voltage pulses. The discriminating means causes by this redischarge signal the high voltage pulse to be again generated from the means 21 during the ignition timing. |
