Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the dispersibility of magnetic powder and to obtain an excellent magnetic recording medium having increased packing density and large residual magnetic flux density by providing a magnetic layer contg. phosphates which are viscous liquid at a room temp. and have a mol. wt. in a specific range and diamine having a mol. wt. in a specific range to said medium. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic layer is formed on a nonmagnetic base by using the magnetic paint contg. the phosphates which are expressed by the formulas I, II, III (R, R1, R2, R3 are hydrocarbon groups, m, n, p are >=1 positive integer), are viscous liquid at a room temp. and have the mol. wt. in a 300-3,000 range and the diamine which is expressed by the formula IV (R1, R2, R3, R4 are H or hydrocarbon groups, q is >=1 positive integer) and has the mol. wt. within a 150-500 range at respectively 0.5-5.0pts.wt. the phosphates and diamine by 100pts.wt. magnetic powder. The magnetic tape or the like which contains the magnetic powder at the high packing density with good dispersibility and has the improved residual magnetic flux density without tackiness is thus obtd.
