Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of unevenness in a valve closing timing, by a method wherein, in a device in which a delay angle actuating body, reciprocated in the circumferential direction of an intake cam, is located between the intake cam of an intake tappet device and a tappet, each delay angle actuating body is driven by a common delay angle regulating device. CONSTITUTION:A titled device is formed such that a delay angle actuating body 20, reciprocated along the circumferential direction of an intake cam 18 by means of a delay angle driving device (delay angle regulating tool) 44, is located between an intake cam 18 and a tappet 21. The delay angle driving distance of the delay angle actuating body 20 is regulated by a delay angle regulating device including a control shaft 36. In which case, a delay angle regulating tool 44 mounted to each cylinder is constituted such that, when the control shaft 36 of the single delay angle regulating device is rotated, a coupling shaft 50, having a crack teeth geared with the gear part of the control shaft 36 is moved forward and backward, and this causes control of a position, allowing a slide contact 49 of the inner surface of a delay angle regulating tool 46, formed in a U-shape, to make contact with a delay angle cam 39 formed integrally with an intake cam shaft 17, i.e., a delay angle swing amount.
