Summary:PURPOSE:To provide the titled copolymer highly compatible with molding thermoplastic resin, capable of affording outstanding persistent antistatic effect without degradation in the physical propertives of said resin, comprising polymer section constituted by specific high-molecular weight monomer residue, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective copolymer comprising a polymer section having vinyl monomer residue of a number-average molecular weight 1X10 -2X10 (e.g., methyl methacrylate residue) which is prepared by copolymerization between (A) a high-molecular weight monomer, (B) a vinylpyridine monomer, (C) a vinylpyridinium salt-based monomer, and if needed, (D) a hydrophilic monomer. Said polymer section is constituted by (1) 20-80wt% of a high- molecular weight monomer residue with its one end carrying polymerizable vinyl group, (2) 80-20wt% of either or both of vinylpyridine monomer residue and vinylpyridinium-based monomer residue and (3) 0-60wt% of a hydrophilic monomer reside.
