Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain an Fe-Ni alloy having excellent plating property and solderability while maintaining the basic properties of the Fe-Ni alloy by incorporating a prescribed ratio of B into the specifically composed Fe-Ni alloy. CONSTITUTION:This Fe-Ni alloy contains <=0.05% C, <=0.03% N, <=2.0% Si, <=3.0% Mn, <=1.0% Cr, >=25% Ni and 0.002-0.02% B, contains, if necessary <=6.0% Mo and/or <=20% Co and consists of the balance Fe. The above- mentioned Fe-Ni alloy is further incorporated therein with 0.005-0.4% >=1 kinds among Nb, Ti, Zr and Al. The oxygen-enriched layer on the surface of the above-mentioned B-contg. alloy produced by annealing in an ordinary non-oxidizing atmosphere is fairly thin and the B is concd. in the surface layer. The uniform B nitride layer is formed in the surface layer in the non-oxidizing atmosphere. The surface thickening of the other components is therefore suppressed and the oxide layer is hardly formed. The autoreduction of the oxide film arises in a plating liquid. The adsorption of the nuclei of plating is liable to arise and the plating property is improved.
