Summary:PURPOSE:To execute the access of information at high speed by setting the one intermittent moving distance of an optical pickup so as to be smaller than the pitch of an information band. CONSTITUTION:DELTAT, DELTAP, and DELTAP''' denote the moving distance of the time when an objective lens 7 moves from on some information band onto an adjacent information band (for instance, 2k+1 from 2k), a distance by which an optical pickup 3 moves by one intermittent movement, and a secondary vibration amplitude generated when the optical pickup 3 is moved by DELTAP in the direction Y, respectively. In case of DELTAP<DELTAT, when DELTAP is set so as to become N.DELTAP>=DELTAT, the secondary vibration amplitude DELTAP''' of the direction Y of the optical pickup 3 also becomes much smaller than DELTAT. Accordingly, the recording or reproducing operation of information of the information band by the objective lens 7 is not influenced by the secondary vibration amplitude DELTAP''' of the optical pickup 3. In this way, the optical pickup 3 can be moved at the high speed.
