Summary:PURPOSE:To improve and uniformize the image quality by adjusting an extent of projection of a magnetic head chip with a high precision without damaging or deforming an upper cylinder. CONSTITUTION:When a stepping motor 25 is rotated to move a pressing block 20, a projecting part 29 is brought into contact with a through hole 9, and a gap delta is just zero. When the pressing block 20 is moved furthermore hereafter, a head base 3 is pushed out by a contacting part 10 of a lever pin 8 in accordance with the part 29 as the fulcrum. When the gap delta is zero, a force is applied to a pressing pin 21, and a distortion detection signal exceeding a discrimination threshold is generated suddenly. Meanwhile, a television camera 27 and a image processor 32 recognize the front end position of a magnetic gead chip 2 in the initial state and input it to a microprocessor 30, and the microprocessor operates an extent of adjustment by which the magnetic head chip 2 should be moved.
