Summary:PURPOSE:To perform a forming with good accuracy by specifying the relation between the elliptic shape of the laser beam condensed on the part to be worked and the reference surface in machining the part to be worked having a pair of symmetric parts of symmetrical plane for the reference surface. CONSTITUTION:The outer diameter face of the body 21 to be worked of which the cylindrical shaft is fixed, for instance, has the parts 25, 27 to be worked having a symmetrical part for the reference face 23 in the right angles direction with the axis shown by imaginary line. The places 25, 27 are composed of a pair of symmetrical parts only and in a herringbone shape. A laser beam 29 is condensed in elliptical shape on the places 25, 27 when YAG laser is oscillated in multiple mode by Q switching. Now the long and short axes 31, 45 in elliptical shape thereof are about in parallel and at right angles always respectively for the face 23. The beam 29 scans in the axial direction from one end of the body 21 to be worked to the other end, but it is controlled so as to irradiate in pulse shape on the places 25, 27 only. After said scanning the body 21 to be worked is positioned by turning with a slight angle and this time the beam 29 is scanned reversely from one end to the other end in the axial direction.
