Summary:PURPOSE:To make it possible to effectively erase an erroneous printing part, by method wherein an erasing transfer ribbon is arranged at a recording position at the time of the erasion of erroneous printing and a heat generating part is preheated while a thermal head is returned to the previous position from an erronous printing position and heat generating capacity is increased to lift off an erroneous printing part. CONSTITUTION:When erroneous printing was generated, the rotation of a ribbon selector 14 is controlled to hold a cassette 5 to an inclined state. In this state, an erasing transfer ribbon 7 is opposed to the heat generating part of a thermal head 4 to fuse and adhere the heat-sensitive adhesive resin on the erasing transfer ribbon 7 to an erroneous printing part by the heat generated from the thermal head 4 and the erroneous printing part is released after cooling to be erased. Because a larger heat generating capacity is generally required in erasion as compared with recording, the voltage supplied to each resistance heat generating element of the thermal head 4 is controlled so as to be raised as compared with that supplied at a usual recording time. When the erroneous printing part is lifted off, the thermal head 4 is returned to a predetermined position but, during this time, the heat generating part is preheated.
