Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce the discharge of white blue smoke by forming an intake passage from the main and sub intake passages having different diameter and designing the position of formation of said passages, in an engine in which the recessed part of a combustion chamber is formed at the center part of the top surface of a piston and intake and exhaust holes are formed in distribution on the both sides. CONSTITUTION:The recessed part 4 of a combustion chamber is formed at the center part of the top surface of a piston 3, and intake and exhaust holes 10 and 6 are formed at the position in eccentricity from the center of the cylinder of a cylinder head 5, and an intake port 13 which communicates to the intake hole 10 and includes a swirl generation part 14 is formed. The intake passage is constituted form a main intake passage 17 having a wide cross-sctional area and a subintake passage 18 having a narrow sectional area. The main intake passage 17 is formed at the position where the main intake stream which leads to the swirl generation part 14 flows into between the cylinder peripheral surface side on the peripheral surface of the generation part 14 and the valve shaft 12 of a suction valve 11, and the subintake passage 18 is formed at the position where the subintake stream collides with the main intake stream. Further, a control valve 19 which is closed in case of no-or low-loading is installed into the main intake passage 17.
