Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent weld cracks by using a filler material for Al alloy, containing a specific wt% Zr, as well as a welding current having prescribed frequency and pulse wave. CONSTITUTION:A filler material for Al alloy of group 7000, containing 0.1-0.3% Zr, is used as a filler metal. A pulsating current, having a frequency of 20-60Hz, a ratio of pulse-space amplitude and pulse-stop amplitude of 1/2-1/5, and a ratio of pulse width and pulse interval of 1/1-1/5, is used as a welding current. By using this pulsating current, a stock of group 7000 Al alloy is welded by MIG welding. The Zr component of filler material makes the grain of weld metal sufficiently fine, and the change of an arc force, caused by the pulsating current, vibrates and agitates a molten pool. In this way, the weld metal is made fine in grain size, the solidification structure is made excellent, and weld cracks are reduced.
