Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain the titled roll material which is low in the thermal expansion and improved in the resistance to deformation in bend and the thermal fatigue properties resistance by containing Si, Mn, Ni, Co, Ti and Al of the specified amount as a basic component in a steel composition. CONSTITUTION:A roll material for a continuous casting installation is obtained by making Fe an essential component, containing by wt. ratio <=0.2% C, <=2.0% Si, <=2.0% Mn, 30-40% Ni, 2-17% Co, 0.5-4.5% Ti, 0.5-5% Al and the inevitable elements and furthermore if necessary adding 0.5-4.0% Nb. Cr is not contained and Ni, Co, Ti and Al of the proper amount are contained in this steel. Therefore, since this steel is somewhat inferior in the high-temp. oxidizability resistance in comparison with the conventional Cr-contg. steel, but is superior in the resistance to thermal fatigue and the resistance to deformation in bending, the service life of roll can be prolonged.
