PURPOSE:To recover efficiently and surely sludge by storing a processing liq. temporarily n a storage mechanism to form suspended sludge, transferring the sludge from a suction port by suction to a separation and recovery mechanism and allowing the sludge to overflow. CONSTITUTION:This method is applied for recovering sludge mixed in a processing liq. such as a water-soluble abrasive liq. and cutting oil. The processing liq. is firstly stored in a storage mechanism A and the sludge is floated. A suction port is provided at the surface part of the processing liq. in the storage mechanism A and the processing liq. of high sludge content is efficiently sucked from a suction port mechanism B. Besides, the suction port mechanism B is capable of following up the liq. surface level of the processing liq. The liq. is sent into a separation and recovery mechanism D through a suction and transfer mechanism C, wherein the sludge is floated and separated from the processing liq. of high sludge content. Since the sludge is recovered by an overflow, a clearance, etc., is not needed.
