PURPOSE:To attain to enhance the removal efficiency of nitrogen and phosphorus, by treating sewage by uniformly supplying sewage to the entire region of the bottom surface of a reaction tank in an anaerobic state by the sewage supply and diffusion means arranged to the bottom part of the reaction tank. CONSTITUTION:Sewage B is stored in a reaction tank 3, while uniformly contacted with the entire region of the bottom part of the reaction tank under uniform mixing, by a sewage supply pump 6 through sewage diffusion pipes 9 equally arranged to the entire region of the bottom part of the reaction tank 3. Appropriate intervals are provided between the sewage diffusion pipes 9 and a predetermined amount of gas can be supplied. No aeration is performed during the supply of sewage B and, after the supply of sewage B was finished, a blower 5 is operated and aeration is performed to held the reaction tank 3 to an anaerobic state during the supply of sewage B. By this method, the removal of a BOD component and the elution of phosphorus are performed sufficiently and uniformly.
