Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a desulfurizing agent which can be inexpensively prepared and has the appropriate performance by using converter dust and as necessary, lime powder, coke powder and cement as raw materials for the dry type desulfurizing agent. CONSTITUTION:As the dry type desulfurizing agent removing effectively hydrogen sulfide contained in a gas, the following materials are mixed and molded wherein >=60% preferably >=70% converter dust 1 of a byproduct generated from an ion mill is molded and as necessary, one or >=2 kinds of <=30% lime powder 3 as an alkali source, 7-30% coke powder 2 as a deodorant and 7-30% cement 4 as a binder are added. By such a way, the desulfurizing agent is prepared extremely inexpensively and has the desulfurization performance equivalent to a commercial desulfurizing agent and both the waste gas treatment and the effective utilization of the byproduct in the iron mill are simultaneously performed.
