Summary:PURPOSE:To provide the titled resin compsn. which can be rapidly cured by ultraviolet light to give a coating film having excellent hardness and heat resistance, by blending a maleimide compd. and a photopolymerization initiator with an unsaturated polyester contg. an allyl ether of a polyhydric alcohol. CONSTITUTION:An unsaturated polyester mainly composed of an allyl ether of a polyhydric alcohol (e.g. trimethylolpropane diallyl ether), a polybasic acid (e.g. maleic anhydride) and a polyhydric alcohol (propylene glycol) is prepd. A maleimide compd. (e.g. N-butylmaleimide), a photopolymerization initiator (e.g. benzoinisopropyl alcohol) and optionally, a vinyl monomer (e.g. styrene) are blended with said unsaturated polyester to obtain the desired ultraviolet- curable resin compsn. The compsn. is suitable for use as protective coating for plastics.
