Summary: | PURPOSE:To reduce particulates in the exhast gas collected by a filter in a way of oxidizig them so efficiently without entailing any damage to the filter, by increasing a heat value to be fed to the fed filter from a heat value feeding device by degrees with the elapse of time. CONSTITUTION:Particulate matter contained in exhaust gas out of a Diesel engine is collected by a filter 1 and then burnt by a heat value of a burner 2. And the burner 2 consists of a coil 3 to be excited periodically by a duty signal out of a control circuit 6, a valve 4 which is opened or closed by excitation and demagnetization of the coil 3 and controls fuel injection quantity, and a spark plug 5. In this case, the duty signal to be outputted from the control circuit 6 is set so as to increase a duty cycle by degrees with the elapse of time. With this constitution, a fuel quantity to be spouted out of the valve 4 is increased with the elapse of time, whereby the particulate matter is efficiently oxidized without any damage to the filter 1 and thus reduced. |
