EXAMPLE:2-(2-Chlorophenyl)-amino-6-N, N-dibutylamino-9-(2-methoxy-carbonyl)- phenylxanthene. USE:An image-forming agent. PREPARATION:The reaction of a fluorane compound of formula II with an alkyl halide is followed by esterification, then the product is reduced with a reducing agent such as sodium borohydride to give the compound of formula I.
