Summary: | PURPOSE:To obtain the titled hexagonal ferrite magnetic body exhibiting high coercive force and high saturation magnetization by heating a compd. or a composition having a trivalent iron atom in a reducing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A compd. or a composition having a trivalent iron atom is heated in a reducing atmosphere, and 0.1-30atom% of the trivalent iron atom is converted into a bivalent iron atom. A hexagonal ferrite magnetic body contg. a coercive force controlling component and whose 0.1-30atom% trivalent iron atom is substituted for a bivalent iron atom is obtained by this method. A magnetic body having a basic composition formula shown by formulas I and II can be exemplified as the magnetic body. In the formulas, R is Ba, Ca, Sr, and Pb, M is Co, Ni, and Zn, M' is Ti, Zr, and Hf, M' is Al, Ga, and In, the (x) in formula I is 0<x<=1.2, and the (x) in formula II is 0<x<=2.4. |
