PURPOSE:To improve the quality of water after separation by reducing the amt. of oil entering the inside of an evaporation chamber and the amt. of oil staying in the evaporation chamber when a liq. mixture of oil and water is separated into oil and water by evaporation. CONSTITUTION:A flotation oil and water separator 13 wherein the oil in a liq. mixture of oil and water is separated by flotation is provided to a passage for supplying the liq. mixture of oil and water to a separator 1 in the evaporative oil and water separator 1 wherein water in the liq. mixture of oil and water is separated by heating and evaporation, and the liq. mixture of oil and water in the separator 1 is refluxed to the separator 13. Namely, the amt. of oil entering the inside of the evaporation chamber and the amt. of oil staying in the evaporation chamber are reduced to improve the quality of water after separation, and the oil content in water after separation can be reduced to lower than the control value determined by the law.
