Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a smooth support for use in a photographic printing paper by forming a paper layer with pulp fibers in the specified range of characteristics. CONSTITUTION:Fiber length is analyzed with a polarization transmission type fiber length analyzer, such as FS-100 type machine made by KAJANI Corporation, and a paper layer is formed by selecting pulp fibers having a weight average fiber length of 0.4-0.9mm., and a number average fiber width of <=4mum measured with a microscope to obtain smooth paper. Smoother paper is obtained by forming a paper layer with pulp fibers having an integrated weight rate of 70% in a fiber length distribution of up to 1mm. fiber length.
