Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a copy image which is invariably sharp and has no image difference by providing a means which detects a copy of size a half as large as the maximum copy size of a photosensitive body and a means which detects the position where said photosensitive body is divided into two. CONSTITUTION:Electronic counters are provided corresponding to, for example, slit detectors 25 and 26. When image formation is started at the starting end (a) of the photosensitive body 5, copying control is performed according to the contents of the 1st electronic counter which counts the slit signal of a slit 23, and when the image formation is started at the center part of the photosensitive body 5, the copying control is carried out according to the contents of the 2nd electronic counter which counts the signal of a slit 24. Consequently, when a copy of size, specially, <=1/2 as large as the maximum copy size is taken, the fatigue of the entire photosensitive body is uniformed and the copy image which is invariably sharp and has no image difference is obtained.
