Summary: | PURPOSE:To provide a liquid crystal compsn. containing specified two types of compds., which has a low duty ratio, can be driven in multiplex mode at a low voltage and produces displays with wide margin. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal compsn. is prepd. by blending 3-55wt% compd. of formula I (where R1 and R2 are each 1-10C straight chain alkyl), 8- 43wt% compd. of formula II (where R3 is 2-8C straight-chain alkyl), 5-30wt% compd. of formula III (where R4 is 2-8C straight-chain alkyl; X is halogen) and 5-50wt% compd. of formula IV (where R5 and R6 are each 2-12C straight- chain alkyl) and adding, when necessary, 3-30wt% compd. of formula V (where R7 is 2-6C straight-chain alkyl); R8 is 1-5C straight-chain alkyl). EFFECT:Time division driving at a duty ratio less than 1/8 can be performed at a driving voltate of below 5V. Thus, power consumption is reduced and weight saving and simplification of a display device are made possible. |
