Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the yield of intermediate fraction of crude petroleum oil by reducing inside diameter of the bottom section of the distillation tower by attaching a member to the inside of the bottom section, thus elevating the temp. in the bottom section of the distillation tower. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical body constructed with steel plates and cut crosswise to plural annular body in the transverse direction or divided into plural members in the vertical direction is carried into a distillation tower where the separated members are assembled. The inside dia. of the bottom section of the distillation tower is reduced by 5-90% almost concentrically, and the height of the bottom section is made to be 1-20% of the whole height of the distillation tower. By thus decreasing the inside dia. of the bottom section, staying time of petroleum crude oil in the bottom section is shortened; accordingly, generation of carbon due to decomposition of heavy oil is retarded even if the temp. of the bottom is elevated.
