Summary:PURPOSE:To keep the idle engine speed constant by calculating the directed fuel injection quantity adjusting member position based on the internal value obtained from the input value when the accelerator opening is not zero and updating it based on the engine speed deviation between the target and actual engine speeds when the accelerator opening is zero. CONSTITUTION:The input value alpha1 is the accelerator operation quantity inputted from the signal of an accelerator position sensor 122, the internal value alpha2 is the virtual accelerator operation quantity determined by alpha2=(100-KalphaL)X alpha1/100+KalphaL, and the target injection quantity is determined based on it and the engine speed. this governor pattern is the value of alpha2 when alpha1 equals 0%, and alpha2 is 100% when alpha1 equals 100%. Next, when an engine is in an idle condition and the actual engine speed and target engine speed differ, the internal value alpha2 is increased or decreased to make the actual engine speed near the target engine speed. Here, the target engine speed is determined by the signal from an idle regulator 126. Thereby, the idle engine speed can be kept constant.
