Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a lithographic plate dispensing with damping water excellent in the printability by performing an acid vapor treatment through a film holed in the form of an image before the development to remove a silicon layer at the image section completely. CONSTITUTION:A non-gas permeable film-like matter holed in a pattern is put tight on a printing plate and exposed to an acid vapor atmosphere without exposure to light. Then, after the removal of the film-like matter put tight on the printing plate, the plate is developed by a developer to make a lighographic printing plate dispensing with damping water. Usable plate material is basically a silicone rubber layer coated on a support. For the film-like matter holed in a pattern, anything will do if only non-gas-permeable and tightly placeable on the silicone rubber layer. As pretreatment of the development, exposure to the acid vapor atmosphere is essential. The acid usable is readily vaporizable under the room temperature or by a slight heating and it may be either organic acid or inorganic acid.
