Summary:PURPOSE:To achieve braking performance corresponding with the pavement by reducing the brake pressure when the difference between the referential and actual wheel speeds has reached to a setting level after start of braking while varying the referential wheel speed and/or speed reduction rate in accordance to the differential speed after elapsing predetermined time. CONSTITUTION:Upon abrupt braking under travel with some speed, the brake pressure will increase abruptly to start reduction of wheel speed VP. Here, the referential wheel speed VS having constant speed reduction rate is set on the basis of deceleration of the wheel speed VP and the brake pressure is reduced when the difference between VP and VS has reached to predetermined level DELTAV. Upon elapse of predetermined time T1 after detection of DELTAV, the difference between VP and VS is measured to exchange the referential wheel speed accordingly. The referential wheel speed VSI has same starting point with VS prior to exchange and diffeent speed reduction rate, and the brake pressure is increased again when VSI and VP are equalized.
