Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer with high heat, chemical and impact resistance and good molding processability, by the polymerization designed to effect such a structure that polyacrylic ester elastomer containing specific crosslinked rigid polymer particles and vinyl polymer represent discontinuous phase and continuous phase, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A polymerization of 95-50wt% of an acrylic ester is carried out in the presence of 5-50wt% (on a solid basis) of latex containing crosslinked rigid polymer particles with an average size 0.01-0.15mum and glass transition point >=20 deg.C to prepare polyester elastomer particles with an average size 0.2- 1.5mum. Next, in the presence of (A) 100pts. by wt. of said elastomer particles, (B) 60-500pts. by wt. of a mixture comprising (i) 10-90wt% of an aromatic vinyl monomer residue, (ii) 10-40wt% of an alpha,beta-unsaturated nitrile monomer residue, 0-80wt% of a methacrylic acid 1-4C alcoholic ester residue, and (iv) 0-5wt% of a polyfunctional vinyl monomer residue is subjected to polymerization to obtain the objective polymer.
