PURPOSE:To miniaturize the Chinese character printer by securing the minimum necessary size for the memory within the Chinese character printer and thus reducing the capacity of the memory, at the same time reducing the limit for the number of using Chinese characters via the memory of the CPU. CONSTITUTION:When Chinese character code signal ''1'' is supplied to microprocessor 11, search signal ''2'' is sent to address memory 12. Thus the address corresponding to the Chinese character code is searched. Then memory 12 transmits address signal ''3'', and bit pattern signal ''4'' of e.g. 32 bytes is transmitted to image buffer 22 of Chinese character printer 2. In this case, signal ''5'' showing the address signal of e.g. 2 bytes is written into the area corresponding to the print position of line buffer 21 from processor 11. Furthermore, signal ''4'' is written into the area corresponding to the relevent address in image buffer 22 and via signal ''6'' equal to signal ''5''. In such way, the bit pattern of the Chinese character, if necessary for printing, is transferred to printer 2 each time.
