Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a spark without deteriorating the metallic luster or durability of a vapor-deposited metallic film by forming a vapor-deposited metallic layer divided into small regions with a water soluble resin. CONSTITUTION:A water soluble resin soln. is applied to one side of synthetic resin film 1 and dried to form a lattice-shaped water soluble resin layer 3. Many small regions 2 set apart from one another with the layer 3 is formed on the film 1. A metal is vapor-deposited on the whole surface of the film 1 including the layer 3 to form a vapor-deposited metallic layer 4, and the layer 3 having a lattice pattern is dissolved and removed by washing. At the same time, the vapor-deposited metal on the layer 3 is removed, forming a vapor-deposited metallic layer as an assembly of many discontinuous small regions 2 set apart from one another with gaps corresponding to the width of the water soluble resin layer 3.
