Summary:PURPOSE:To control EGR rate accurately and perform exhaust gas purification of internal-combustion engine effectively by providing a detector for detecting the noxious components in exhaust gas then performing incremental/decremental correction of the setting EGR rate with correspondence to the detected signal. CONSTITUTION:A control unit C will control the fuel injection amount and timing of fuel injection pump and EGR rate. Infrared beam from a laser diode 1b1 having NOx absorbing wavelength and arranged in the exhaust tube 1B will cross with the exhaust path and arrive to an infrared beam detecting element 1b2. The concentration of noxious components in the exhaust gas is detected through the absorption effect of the infrared laser beam. The setting EGR rate is incremented/decremented with correspondence to the detected signal. Consequently, the exhaust gas of internal-combustion engine can be purified effectively.
