Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a decrease in running friction, an improvement in running durability and still durability and a decrease in drop-out by incorporating the compd. expressed by the specific chemical formula and unsatd. chain hydrocarbon of 10-22C into a top coat film. CONSTITUTION:The top coat film consisting of the compd. expressed by formula I and unsatd. chain hydrocarbon is provided on a magnetic layer which consists essentially of Co and is formed by a diagonal vapor deposition method on a base body. Such top coat film is formed with gaseous phase deposition by vapor deposition or sputtering to the thickness of a monomolecular layer or above and 5-100Angstrom . In formula I, R1 denotes an alkyl group of 10-22C, Y1, Y2 denote hydrogen, R1 or the cation of a metal or onium, Y1, Y2 may form a bivalent cation in combination. The decreased running friction, improved running durability and decreased drop-out are resulted when the number of carbon atoms of R1 is 12-22.
