Summary: | PURPOSE:To oscillate laser beams of high output and high quality by a method wherein both inclined end surfaces of a slab solid-state laser element made of gadolium-gallium-garnet single crystal doped with neodium are made parallel with growing stripes of single crystal. CONSTITUTION:The element 10 is made of gadolium-gallium-garnet single crystal doped with neodium. The element 10 is cut out so that its end surfaces may be nearly parallel with growing stripes S, with the direction of slab cut-out inclined to the direction of pull-up of the single crystal 8. In such a manner, the shade of neodium in the slab comes closely parallel to the end surfaces; thereby, the grating interval in the end surfaces 11 and 12 largely increases, and the light scattering due to diffraction reduces almost negligibly. |
