Summary:PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity and to reduce residual potential by using a specified compd. as an electrostatic charge transfer material for a photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer contains a hydrazone compd. represented by the formula in which X is directly bonded, O, S, or carbonyl; R1 is H, halogen, nitro, alkyl, alkoxy, amino, or the like; R2, R3 are each alkyl, aralkyl, aryl, or heterocyclic, or both may form a hetero ring with each other; and n is 1-10. Such a hydrazone compd. can be used together with a change generating material to form a single layer type photosensitive body or a double layer type photosensitive body. The use of such a compd. as the change transfer material permits sensitivity to be enhanced in both positive and negative charging, deterioration of the photosensitive body due to repeated uses to be reduced, charge and sensitivity retentivity against environmental changes from high temp. to low temp., and high humidity to low humidity to be improved, and durability to be enhanced.
