Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of a construction work, by a method wherein, by means of a sensor which detects inclination and the position of a ship hull, and based on measurements of inclination of an improving machine and a relative position between the improving machine and a ship hull, the stroke amounts of expandable clamp devices are controlled. CONSTITUTION:When a ship hull 1 supporting an improving machine 11 is inclined by an angle theta, the inclination angle theta is detected by a ship hull rolling and pitching amount detecting sensor 17, and a relative position between the ship hull 1 and the improving machine 11 is detected by an improving machine position detecting sensor. Thereafter, the control amount of the stroke of expandable clamp devices 9 and 9' is calculated by a computer receiving signals from the two sensors, and the results are outputted to the improving machine 11 to maintain inclination of the improving machine 11 at a specified value. When the position of the ship hull 1 is moved, the horizontal movement amount of the ship hull 1 is detected by horizontal movement amount detecting sensors 16 and 16', and the stroke amount of the clamp devices 9 and 9' is controlled. This causes the improving machine 11 to be maintained in a specified position against a ground.
