Summary: | PURPOSE:To obtain an optical coupling element characterized by a high current transfer rate, a simple structure and excellent environment resistance, by arranging a light emitting element at the position of one focus of the elliptic body of an elliptic reflecting mirror, and arranging a light receiving element at the position of another focus. CONSTITUTION:An elliptic metal reflecting mirror 6, whose light reflectivity of the inner surface is high, also serves a part of a case of an optical coupling element. A light emitting element 1 and a light receiving element 3 are arranged at the first and second focus positions of an elliptic body 6, respectively. The light, which is emitted from a light emitting element 1, is reflected by the reflecting mirror 6. All the light beams are received by the light receiving element 3. The light emitting element 1 and the light receiving element 3 are attached to a ceramic substrate 2. Dielectric strength between the elements is high and the structure is simple. The light emitting element 1 and the light receiving element 3 are wire-bonded to terminals 7, which are fixed to a metal stem by a hermetic sealing material 5. |
