Summary:PURPOSE:To measure a light spot position with high precision without increasing the resolution of a TV camera by converting a light spot from a position to be measured into plural streaky linear images through a cross filter attached to the lens of the TV camera and measuring the light spot position. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting body 1 which indicates the light spot of a target whose position is to be measured uses a halogen lamp, sodium lamp, etc., and an image of this light emitting body 1 is picked up by the TV camera 2. The cross filter (cross screen) 3 is attached to the lens of the TV camera 2. A cross mark is projected on the image pickup surface of a solid-state image pickup element through the filter. The video signal from the TV camera 2 is impressed to a video processor 5 and an image frozen there is supplied to a computer 6 and converted into a binary signal, so that the cross mark is extracted from the background.
