Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of an information recording and reproducing device by moving a magnet for erasure by utilizing the driving source for a recording and reproducing head. CONSTITUTION:When a quantity input signal is inputted, a control circuit 31 generates an erasure signal H and a head motor driving ciruit 32 outputs a drive signal to a head motor 20 to move the head 14 on a disk 15 radially. At this time, a projection part 14a presses one end part 26a of a link 26, which rotates, so that an erasure head 24 starts moving in a direction D. Further, the erasure signal H is inputted to a spindle motor driving circuit 33 as well to rotate the disk 15 in a direction E through a spindle motor 23. When the rotating speed of the motor 23 is P rps and the width of the erasure head 24 is l1, the erasure head 24 moves at a speed below P.l1, so when the erasure head 24 crosses recording area width l, magnetism directions of a thin ferromagnetic material film are put in order. When the head 14 reaches a microswitch 34, a signal I is inputted to the control circuit 31, which outputs a stop signal J to the driving circuit 32, thereby stopping the C-directional movement of the head 14 through the head motor 20. At this time, the erasure head 24 reaches the innermost peripheral track of the recording area A and recording information is erased.
