PURPOSE:To prevent the progress of the corrosion of a cooling system by installing a storage tank contg. an anticorrosive in the cooling system and by exhausting the air in the upper space in the tank with gaseous nitrogen. CONSTITUTION:A storage tank 1 contg. an aqueous nitride soln. 2 is installed in a cooling system for a power plant, and an anticorrosive injecting pipe 8, a system water returning pipe 9 and a bent pipe 5 for exhausting air are attached to the tank 1. Gaseous nitrogen is blown into the tank 1 from a nitrogen cylinder 4 through a gas blowing pipe 3 to exhaust the air in the upper space 6 in the tank 1 through the bent pipe 5. A reaction represented by the equation is inhibited by exhausting the air, and reduction in the concn. of nitrite ions in the aqueous nitrite soln. 2 can be prevented. By this method the progress of the corrosion of the cooling system is prevented.
