Summary:PURPOSE:To shorten connectors and improve discharge performance by storing a group of electrode plates in individual cell chambers with the electrode plates arranged in parallel with a middle-partition wall between the 1st cell and the 2nd cell. CONSTITUTION:When a large lead storage battery for car is formed by using electrode plates made of an expanded grid having an ear section 10 near the upper center of the grid, a group of electrode plates are stored in individual cells so that the electrode plates are arranged in parallel with a middle-partition wall between the 1st cell and the 2nd cell of a battery jar. Cells other than the 3rd cell and the 4th cell are connected together with inter-cell connectors 7b, and the 3rd cell and the 4th cell are conncted together with a negative-electrode side connector 8b of the 3rd cell and a positive-electrode side connector 9b of the 4th cell to connect all cells in series. Accordingly, individual cells can be connected together at a short distance, thereby the lead quantity used can be reduced, and the voltage characteristics and vibration resistance during a heavy- duty discharge can be improved.
