Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent shock to hold vividness of pictures and to prevent play of constituting elements by returning surely a moving body to a stop position by inertia to stop the moving body softly. CONSTITUTION:In case of a single copy or the last copy of continuous copying, when a clutch 64 for return is driven and the detecting operation is performed by the second detecting element 73, the first timer 82 starts the time counting, and the clutch 64 is cut off, and a light shielding member 71 runs by inertia and reaches the stop position. By this running due to inertia, shock at the time when the light shielding member 71 reaches the stop position is relaxed. If the light shielding member 71 does not reach the stop position within a time, that is, if it is not detected by the first detecting element 72, the clutch 64 is connected again, and the light shielding member 71 is allowed to reach the stop position quickly.
