Summary: | PURPOSE:To regenerate an adsorbent inexpensively and safely by adsorbing sulfur compd. such as hydrogen sulfide contained in raw gas to the adsorbent to remove the sulfur compd. and using the O2-enriched air obtained from an air separator as gas for regenerating said adsorbent. CONSTITUTION:In the method for adsorbing sulfur compd. such as hydrogen sulfide contained in raw gas to an adsorbent such as iron oxide to remove the sulfur compd., the O2-enriched air having 40-80% oxygen component which is obtained from an air separator 125 is used as the gas 105 for regenerating the adsorbent in a regeneration tower 4. The sulfur dioxide 6 produced in tower 4 is treated in a reduction tower 9 and a sulfur recovery tower 15 to recover sulfur as the single body of sulfur 13 and an off gas 16 is treated by exhausting it directly or by circulating it directly to the raw gas 1 side. As a result, the gas volume to be handled can be diminished sharply in comparison with the case of using pure air and furthermore the method is more inexpensive and safer than in case of using pure oxygen. |
